आगरा (जागरण संवाददाता)। दुनिया के सात अजूबों में शुमार ताज। प्रदूषण की कालिख से ताज के धवल सौंदर्य पर पीलेपन के दाग लगे, तो पूरा देश चिंतित हो उठा। मुल्तानी मिट्टी का लेप (मडपैक) कर उसका उपचार किया जा रहा है, लेकिन प्रदूषण लाइलाज है। भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण (एएसआइ) की रसायन शाखा इसके कारणों की पहचान को जांच में जुटी है। इसमें अब वह आइआइटी और वाडिया इंस्टीट्यूट, देहरादून की भी मदद लेगी।

प्रदूषण से ताज को बचाने के लिए दो दशक पूर्व ताज टिपेजियम जोन (टीटीजेड) बनाया गया था। हरियाली पर जोर देने के साथ प्रदूषणकारी उद्योगों को बंद कराया गया या शिफ्ट किया गया। हालात इसके बाद भी नहीं सुधरे। अप्रैल, 2015 में संसद की पर्यावरण संबंधी स्थाई समिति ने ताज का निरीक्षण कर कंपोजिट प्लान बनाने के निर्देश दिए। इसके बाद ताज पर मडपैक ट्रीटमेंट शुरू किया गया।

अधीक्षण पुरातत्वज्ञ रसायन डॉ. एमके भटनागर बताते हैं कि अध्ययन रिपोर्ट को अधिक प्रभावी बनाने के लिए हम इसका साइंटिफिक क्रॉस चेक आइआइटी और वाडिया इंस्टीट्यूट से कराने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं।

2014 में सामने आया था सच: जॉर्जिया इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी अटलांटा, अमेरिका, आइआइटी कानपुर और एएसआइ की रसायन शाखा ने नवंबर 2011 से दिसंबर, 2012 तक ताज में अध्ययन किया था। इसमें ताज की सतह पर 55 फीसद धूल कण, 35 फीसद ब्राउन कार्बन कण और 10 फीसद ब्लैक कार्बन कण पाए गए थे।

डीजल वाहन और उपले भी वजह: अध्ययन में यह माना गया था कि ताज के समीप डीजल वाहनों के चलने और उपले जलने से कार्बन कण स्मारक तक पहुंच रहे हैं। ताज के धवल सौंदर्य को बरकरार रखने को तीन वर्ष के अंतराल पर मडपैक ट्रीटमेंट की आवश्यकता बताई गई थी।

The IIIT (Public-Private Partnership) Bill, 2017 seeks to grant statutory status to 15 IIITs and declare them as 'Institutions of National Importance'.

Contending that the bill would have far-reaching implications on the engineering education system, he urged the government to reframe it to address issues related to teaching faculty and students.

RSP's N K Premachandran said he was opposing the principle of public private partnership in higher education as such initiatives could result in downtrodden students not getting the best education.

Jose K Mani (Kerala Cong-M) mentioned that thousands of IT graduate students are jobless and also wanted to know about the role of private players in PPP institutions in higher education.

Pune doctor battling cancer seeks permission to die

Pune: In a heart-wrenching video, Bharat Maruthi Lote, a Pune-based doctor, has urged the authorities to allow him to end his life.

According to Mid-Day, Lote, who has been battling pancreatic cancer, has sought permission for euthanasia or mercy killing since he is unable to bear the pain and financial burden of his medical treatment.

The doctor has pleaded the authorities to consider his request as there is no other way out for him.

He and his wife Sangita had to mortgage their house and other valuables including jewellery to raise money needed for his surgeries so far.

His wife also met with the officials of the state health department with a request to release his salary in advance, but there has been no response.

Since lenders have come asking for their money, Dr Lote finally decided to do what he thought would be an end to the troubles.

In a video released by Sangita on June 8, the doctor pleaded for death, highlighting his family’s weak financial status and the health department’s alleged apathy.
